Musica anni 90: un decennio ricco di grandi cambiamenti. Cresce l’offerta di musica commerciale o pop (popolare) che non deve sembrare musica di bassa qualità ma musica e sonorità adatte a tutti. È proprio durante gli anni 90 che nasce ed esplode il fenomeno delle boy band e delle girl band; formazioni come i Take That e i Backstreet Boys o il loro specchio le Spice Girls o le All Saints diventano icone di bellezza in volti e musica.

Il grunge

Gli anni 90 sono anche gli anni delle manifestazioni di Seattle. Esplode la musica grunge portando alla ribalta una band mito come i Nirvana.  Il genere però che ha dominato la musica negli anni 90 è sicuramente la musica elettronica. La musica dance anni 90 è ascoltata in tutto il mondo e, grazie al suo suono particolare e ad un carattere libero ed euforico diventa lo stile di fine millennio.

Il mercato attraverso lo strumento del CD riempie gli store di questo genere melodico e tormentoni che occupano tutti i palinsesti delle radio: si sentono in ogni luogo brani come Rhythm Is A Dancer degli Snap!, Children di Robert Miles e Brother in the space di Aladino.

Non ci dimentichiamo ovviamente del grande fenomeno statunitense quale Madonna e citiamo l’album Like a Prayer come, a nostro avviso, uno dei più belli della cantante.

Durante questi anni nascono numerose etichette di musica dance e sono stati gli anni per la musica quelli in cui l’industria discografica ha puntato massicciamente nelle produzioni di musica dance. Si assiste ad un nuovo periodo di gloria della musica dance anche attraverso collaborazioni con artisti solitamente dediti ad altri generi musicali preparano duetti o remix di brani noti.

Nei primi anni 90 osserviamo una distinzione sempre più marcata dei vari generi di musica dance e quindi assistiamo per la prima volta a una differenziazione dei club secondo il genere di musica che trasmettono. Nascono vari fenomeni dance tra cui, house, techno, underground e commerciale.
